Job Type: 2nd Shift (2:30PM-11:00PM)

Position Summary:

Provides support to the production departments by completing equipment repairs, machine changeovers and operating adjustments. Completes work orders in building maintenance, part fabrication/repair, machine installation and preventive maintenance. Requires hands-on versatility in many trade disciplines including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulics. The main function is to support the manufacturing departments by completing real time equipment repairs, line changes, and or adjustments needed. Possesses a proven track record of diagnosing and troubleshooting problems with industrial production equipment, specifically, liquid and powder filling machines, capping machines, labelers, conveyors, electric/pneumatic pumps, and power transmission drive components.

Responsibilities and Duties for Position:

Familiar with methods and techniques in welding, carpentry, plumbing and general mechanical repairs. Troubleshoots problems systematically according to quality principles of identifying and isolating variables. Assists production personnel in improving overall equipment performance.

Performs maintenance duties according to established methods and SOPs to maintain high level of quality and safety. Understands the role of maintenance in maintaining a clean and organized 5S work environment as a necessary step in company safety culture.

  • Performs installation, maintenance and repair of mechanically functioning equipment, including centralized heat, gas, water, security and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoots, adjusts and repairs production and distribution equipment. Draws upon mechanical knowledge and familiarity with electricity, pneumatics, and hydraulics to complete tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
  • Responds to requests from production personnel for assistance in improving equipment operating uptime, reducing associated downtime, and ensuring that equipment is operating safely and at optimum operating speeds and capable of producing quality output.
  • Interacts with vendors to research and purchase machine parts, complete equipment assemblies, supplies, capital project procurement, and labor services fulfilled by outside contractors, as required.
  • Light or moderate fabrication work which may welding.
  • Develops and executes capital projects as assigned.
  • Works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and or weekends when needed.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend and twist. The employee regularly is required to use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, including performing work overhead. Constant pushing, pulling, lifting, bending and climbing is also required.

Education and Experience:

Two-year certificate from college or technical school and 5 years of related experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Experience with 3 phase power systems is desirable.
